Twelve men, eight challenging competitions and 26 metres between take-off and dive. Physical mastery, pure aesthetics, deathly silence and crackling tension - that´s the formula the new Red Bull Cliff Diving Series 2009 is made of. Between May and September 2009, the world´s best divers will level up the sport and compete in eight different countries at impressive locations for the overall title. At the venues spread all over Europe, tens of thousands of spectators will cheer for them - and at the decisive moment of the dive, they will be so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
The most alpine and the historically most significant stop of the Cliff Diving Series 2009 will take place in Switzerland: at this country, Cliff Diving events as such were born in 1997 with the very first single event. From a more national point of view, Sisikon has already once been setting for a historic jump. Wilhelm Tell´s jump into the water was caused by the wish for freedom without any acrobatic claim though. He landed on a ledge where nowadays a chapel - Tell´s Chapel - reminds of the heroic deed. This is the exact place to be and watch the fine art of cliff diving on September 5th.
